At the Pink Plumber, we’re proud to do our part in the fight against breast cancer. In addition to donating a percentage of every job to the cause, we participate in community events that raise funds and awareness about the disease, such as the It’s the Journey Atlanta 2 Day Walk to be held this year October 15-16.
The It’s the Journey breast cancer walk is a popular event that attracts participants from near and far. We at the Pink Plumber encourage you to volunteer and join us in supporting this event. Here are several benefits to volunteering.
It’s Fun
Experiencing the great outdoors while you contribute to the greater good is a blast. In addition to meeting new friends, the volunteer opportunities at It’s the Journey’s 2 Day Walk are varied and offer something for everyone. This year at the walk, the Pink Plumber is serving as a B’Rest Stop to serve the needs of walkers during the event. We invite you to help us make this year’s 2 Day Walk one of the most enjoyable ever.
You’ll Feel Good
Joining like-minded individuals dedicated to making the world a better place is a satisfying experience. Knowing that your efforts, whether they were walking or providing services to walkers during the event, may save lives, is sure to make you feel great.
Lending a Hand Boosts Your Health
Volunteering can give you a healthier body. According to the Corporation for National & Community Service, volunteering leads to better health. A study they conducted found that individuals who gave of their time tended to be healthier, physically and mentally. They discovered that volunteers had a greater functional ability and lower rates of depression than those who don’t volunteer. At the 2 Day Walk, you’ll have the opportunity to stretch yourself physically and mentally.
Volunteering Increases Your Skills and Experience
Lending a hand and your experience is bound to increase your abilities and knowledge. Whether you’re volunteering your efforts in your field of expertise or a new area, you are likely to walk away with some newfound knowledge. The opportunity also gives you a chance to work on skills that you may want to develop further, such as leadership or customer service.
